Psst, there’s an easter egg down there.
Most people would have missed this section. But not you! As a reward, let me tell you a bit about myself.
Nah, not the “My Name is Starry” kind of stuff. Because everyone is made up of fragments of the people they met.
So this will be more like “let me tell you something I’ve learned from the people I met at work”. And the list goes:
1. “Find your own style.” This was from the CCO when I was in my first agency. He was brought up as an English Copywriter as well and found a way to leave his mark through his work. So yea, I cherish the kind of work that provides such leeway for me to practice, practice, and keep practicing on.
2. “Be multifunctional.” said a strategist when there were 10 pitches in the house at the same time, and the planners simply didn’t have time for all of them. That’s when I learned to be a planner - to come up with angles that were creative enough for the public, and relevant enough for the client.
3. “You’ve gotta help me help you.” These words of wisdom were from another CCO of mine – and it applies to so many things. To win a pitch you must let the client know that you are helping them solve their problems; to get a promotion you must let your boss know that you are worthy. Same for making friends. Same for any kind of relationship.
4. “What took you here won’t take you further.” This quote was from a speaker I met at Cannes. I couldn’t remember the context but, the moral of the story? It’s important to always keep learning. With that in mind I am currently having a coding and web design course.
The list goes on, but I’d better stop here. Just gotta say that I’ve been lucky to have been nurtured by so many creative leaders who were so determined and motivated.
The skills, the attitude, the relentless pursuit of what they believe in.
And I am already looking forward to everything that I am about to learn from you.
